Water is an essential element in many industrial processes. With water shortages around the globe, companies use different methods to recycle and reuse wastewater. Technology has made this easier: there are many companies which offer products that make water recycling and reuse possible.
Water treatment systems are being pressed into use for a range of reasons. Treating wastewater from residential areas, hospitals, or industry is important because untreated water pollutes. The basic idea is to mimic nature and remove inorganic and other particulate matter. Water treatment technologies include clarifiers, evaporation, filtration, ion exchanges, aerobic and anaerobic processes, membrane separation, membrane bioreactors, and sludge treatment methods.
Why water treatment clarifiers are essential
The process of clarification is used to remove particulate matter and solids from used water from multiple sources. Flocculants and other materials help in settling the solid matter which is then removed and recycled. Water treatment systems are usually available in two configurations:
1. Rectangular, where water flows in from one end and exits another;
2. Circular, in which the flow is from the center to the perimeter;
3. Water treatment systems can be configured and retrofitted to suit any need. Whether it is needed for industry, municipal effluents or drinking water, swimming pools and so on. For example, treatment systems are very much in use in the semiconductor industry, which requires large volumes of pure water.
Steps in the treatment process
Clarification is the first step in the conventional wastewater treatment cycle. The steps are the following:
1. Screening to ensure that objects don’t obstruct the smooth working of the unit. Fine, medium and coarse screens are used in stages to ensure to remove debris of different weights.
2. Using chemicals to speed up flocculation/coagulation of debris which is not screened.
3. Sedimentation is another step in which heavy particles sink to the bottom of the tank.
4. Centrifugation is mostly used to treat industrial effluents.
Treating wastewater using clarifiers and other tools helps to maintain water quality. Whatever treatment method you use, the most important thing is to ensure the purity of a limited resource that is vital to life.
