For instance, manufacturers should reconsider how they could maximize the use of equipment for producing parts and components for electric vehicles, including a Baileigh Industrial plasma table. While there are more electric vehicles, conventional cars still make up a majority of the market in the country.

Sustainable Milestone

Proponents of electronic vehicles said that one million electric cars represent a new sustainable milestone in the U.S. The country has become less dependent on oil as a power source for vehicles, although the journey of reducing fuel-dependent cars remains an uphill climb.

Electric vehicles only consist of just 1% of the auto market, unlike in China where adoption rates are the highest in the world. The U.S. still ranks behind the Asian country, followed by Europe. Aside from the growing use of electric cars, another factor that would reshape the automotive sector involves new communications technology for better safety.

Smart Vehicle Communications

Ford and Panasonic have partnered on a new venture called the V2X communication systems for passenger cars, which it currently develops in Denver together with the Colorado Department of Transportation. In a nutshell, the technology allows vehicles “to talk to one another and anything else.”

Chris Armstrong, Panasonic director of smart mobility, explained that the system could be discerned with colored dots that represent other cars on the road. These vehicles share, transmit, and generate data “ten times per second,” according to Armstrong.

The landscape for automotive engineering in the U.S. continues to develop every year, especially now that electric vehicles have become more popular. Manufacturers should then review if their automotive equipment remains capable of delivering the required changes in design and production.
